2013 Nescafé Champs Leysin

One of the major and one of the oldest competition events during the season which unfortunately overlaps quite often with the BEOs and so gets a bit pushed to the edge is the Nescafé Champs in Leysin, Switzerland. From March 6th to 10th in this up coming 2013 edition, things get a slight face-lift and presents the 5 Star event with some new ideas and formats. Brand new on the event schedule is DJ Jib Jam competition, bringing so a new team format judged by the public for the first time to the Nescafé Champs. The usual and well known for aspect of the Nescafé Champs, putting a halfpipe into a Slopestyle run stays of course to guarantee all spectators and everybody on-side one rad snowboard competition, in which an international pro line-up will have to show best overall skills to battle for a piece of the desired $ 50’000 prize money. To ensure also a maximum number of qualified riders, the Nescafé Champs teamed up in 2013 with 3 events in Davos, Crans-Montana and Grindelwald sending their winners to Leysin. But that ain’t everything! The Billabong Flaunt It Tour in Canada will qualify its leading ladies, and the Ästhetiker Winter MASH in Saalbach Hinterglem (Austria) will send its winning team. There will also be a qualification day in Leysin of course for the local matadors. In total, 18 men and 12 women will qualify to compete alongside the invited riders seeded directly into the semi-finals.

 The 3-Style Cup on March 9th will show all 3 main pillars of this outstanding 22nd edition of the Nescafé Champs and present the spectators one hell of show in which the best snowboard teams will be judged on the images of their riding filmed during the day. The entire event will be mixed to music by the DJs of the Champs and accompanied by art performances. For the first time, the essence of the nescafé Champs will be brought together in one place and the best snowboarding team will be crowned during the 3-Style Cup.
