Art on Snow Gastein \ 04.-12.02.2012
The first artists are fixed and they will definitely rock the place! Danny Larsen and his trusted photographer Jerome Tanon will be on the ground – but that is only the beginning!
Preparations are running at full speed – just like busy ants the organizers are working hard to offer the visitors of the ARt on Snow a superb program again. The world-famous Heavy-Metal-Snowboard-Pro Danny Larsen himself starts off the parade of this year´s ARt on Snow artists. Yes, right – artists! Probably many people do not know that the Norwegian can also handle pencil, ink and co.. He will show how an actual Snowboard-Pro brings the ideas from snow to paper. His artworks, for which Larsen is mostly inspired by music, might sometimes be a bit bloody but always come with a wink.
Beside the drawings of Danny Larsen the visitors will also get to see photographs of his snowboard arts. The artist behind these pics is Jerome Tanon who is a grandmaster of photography. The 25 year old French works for many nameable international magazines and travels around the world together with different Snowboard-Video productions such as the Pirates, Absinthe and others. But those who expect “normal” photos way too far at fault. It is difficult to describe the artworks of Tanon. The best would be to get an own impression directly at the ARt on Snow!
Next to the two heros above there will of course be other artists and their works waiting for you! Peter Radacher will take you on a trip through the history of the Snowboard with a bunch of exhibits from his Snowboard History Museum. From the “Brunswick Snurfer” from 1979 up to the latest boards you can see many quaint, colorful and iconic “pearls”! The sport through the ages is also the subject of the movie screening throughout the whole event week: Starting with the Ski World Championship of 1958 in the Gastein Valley, to the legendary 70ies stripes to the latest productions of the (freeski and) snowboard scene there will be pure cinema feeling!
Look forward to the many innovations at the ARt on Snow, such as the Marker Battle or the snowboardcamps. But almost traditional features like workshops, live-performances and parties are of course part of the program again. The three villages of Dorfgastein, Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein are the perfect location and at the same time the new homebase of the ARt on Snow – in the middle of the beautiful Salzburger Land.
Mark in big fat red color these days in your 2012 calendar and see you there!
