Burton U.S. Open | Slopestyle Semi-Finals

What a start for that 29th annual Burton US Open. The temperatures on Stratton, have been on this day quite freezy, but nothing at all could stop the riders, from riding that Slope yesterday. Nothing but getting Food Poisoning like Sage Katsenburg (USA). In the webcast’s livechat, Sage commented a bit and said, that he won’t be participating neither at the Railjam or the rest of the competition as it looks like. Also German pro Silvia Mittermüller, who unfortunately got her elbow injured at the Arctic Challenge a couple of weeks ago, is not riding the slopes in Stratton unfortunately. Sage and Silvia gave space then, for ten men and six women, to advance to the US Open Slopestyle Finals, which take place this Friday, March 11th.

The big news from yesterday’s semi-finals, is that Jamie Anderson (USA) qualified 1st, so she has officially locked down already the women’s TTR World Tour Championship title, by getting the most TTR points for the season. Being the 2nd time in a row, on becoming TTR World Tour Champ, Jamie did quite a history in snowboarding. Further finalists for the women’s slopestyle finals are, Spencer O’Brien (CAN), Silje Norendal (NOR), Enni Rukajarvi (FIN), Jordie Karlinski (USA) and Kjersti Buaas (NOR).

On the men’s side, Eric Willet (USA) led the field after nailing his first run, consisting of a 270 Boardslide, BS Tailside 450 out, Cab Double Cork 900, Tailside 270 out, FS 900 Tail grab and capped with a Switch BS Double Cork 1080. Also advancing to the men’s slopestyle finals are Mark McMorris (CAN), Chas Guldemond (USA), Torgeir Bergrem (NOR), Jeremy Thompson (USA), Emil Uilsletten (NOR), Ulrik Badertscher (NOR), Jason Dubois (CAN), Janne Korpi (FIN) and Sondre Tiller (NOR). As you can see easily here, the Scandinavian section is quite hard and competitive and will for sure be coming up with some tough trick level on the Finals on Friday, to not let anything go away for free.
