Last weekend in Abu Dhabi, Kelly Slater won his 3rd Laureus World Sports Award, just a few weeks after Slater’s recent record, which was the 10th ASP World Championship Title 2010. A great achievement for Kelly Slater, which is now one of „the 25 coolest athletes of all time“, according to the recent issue of GQ US Magazine. Slater won the Action Sports person in 2007 and 2009. Surfer Stephanie Gilmore was won  the Action Sports person last year, but was not nominated this year.

Other nominees were not too bad at all, but even though the 10 times ASP World Champion, beat extraordinary athletes in his category: Shaun White, Stephanie Gilmore, Jamie Bestwick, Levi Sherwood and Victor Fernandez.

This year‘s Laureus Sports Awards were hosted by nobody else, than Oscar winner and Hollywood star Kevin Spacey, at the Emirates Palace in United Arab Emirates. Slater‘s next show-up will be on the first ASP World Tour stop on February 26th, at the Quicksilver Pro on the Goldcoast, Australia.
