Skating Vs. Architecture: A Study of Public Space & Materiality

This edit is a short documentary, focusing on skateboarding in Auckland City and putting skateboarding and architecture in contrast. Public spaces represent skateboarding’s most creative playgrounds and infinite options to create new tricks. You just have to got the right eye for it. The problem here is obvious and nothing new at all. Grinding public spots, ledges and everything also means damage on the other side for those who have built them and it has been an endless fight since them, to prohibit skateboarding on public spaces, by putting signs on, or by stop-skating. Architecture gets extended by extra elements, which avoid skating them at all and skateboarders try to get rid of them or have to continue searching a new spot to skate.
