Oakley & Shaun White present Air & Style in Beijing
The season is on and tomorrow it is time for the first official TTR 6 Star event to kick off!
Oakley and Shaun White present …bullshit! Shaun ain’t going to be there fort he secon time as it looks like, due to new scooter planning and fine tunings he’s got to do.
Tomorrow on December 3rd, National Stadium –the Olympic Stadium- will host fort he first time the Asian edition of the Air & Style contest.
24 of snowboardings top riders, will compete on the big air jump for 1’000 TTR points of this 6 Star Event tomorrow in China. Triple Corks included? We will see, but one thing is for sure: It is going to be a hell of a show!
Title defender Sebs ’Toots’ (CAN), last year´s runner-up Seppe Smits (BEL) and the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck 2011 winner, Mark McMorris (CAN) will be challenged by none other than Norwegian Triple Corker and Winter X Games Big Air Gold Medallist, Torstein Horgmo, who after two years of Air & Style abstinence has found his way back again. Halldør Helgason (ISL), Nils Arvidsson (SWE) and Mikkel Bang (NOR) are always good for surprise performances, but also Slovenian pro and Billabong Air & Style 2009/II winner Marko Grilc, the North American reppers Eric Willett and Sage Kotsenburg, German hopeful Ethan Morgan and Ulrik Badertscher (NOR) won’t be standing right there without knocking the hustle to get the infamous Ring of Glory of course.
This time, riders and spectators will enjoy an extended and new contest format at the Air & Style, as there will be even more pressure from round #1 on. In the Qualify, 12 riders compete for four spots in the Top 16 heats and amin contest round, in which they meet 12 seeded riders. Qualified riders also include some big names, such as Gjermund Braaten (NOR), Jamie Nicholls (GBR), Roope Tonteri (FIN) and Ståle Sandbech (NOR), but also a quite and claimed to be very promising rider like 15-year old Yuuki Kadono from Japan.
In true Air & Style fashion, DJs and the live music acts of “Chang Chen-yue” and “MC HotDog” featuring “FREE 9” will bring the expected 20’000 (!!) spectators to full raving party mode and chaos, like it would be 1999.
