| Lacomare wins comp.|
The Billabong World Championship at North Narrabeen, Sydney (AUS), is the most prestigious junior competition, where also the ASP World Junior Champion is crowned. The „Gold Coaster“, Jack Freestone has become the first Australian surfer in 10 years to claim the ASP World Junior Title following the culmination of the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships. In the end, strong French surfer Marc Lacomare won the biggest title on the junior championship at Narrabeen (14.00), defeating Nat Young (USA | 11.50) and leaving Freestone the victory, himself has been close to lose.
Lacomare’s win completes an excellent week for French surfing, with 20 year-old Alizee Arnaud winning the Women’s ASP World Junior Title on Tuesday in female surfing.
Freestone joins an impressive roster of world beating talent, that includes South African Jordy Smith (2006), Adriano de Souza (BRA | 2003), Joel Parkinson (AUS | 2001) and three time Hawaiian World Champion Andy Irons (USA | 1998).
Freestone will be presented with his trophy and officially crowned ASP World Junior Champion with ten times World Champion, Kelly Slater and four times champion Steph Gilmore at the ASP World Champions Banquet, scheduled for the Gold Coast in February.
